Hand Painted Kitchen in Formby
"After many hours researching kitchens
on the internet we came across Matthew James Furniture and liked what we saw,
so decided to contact them."
Initially forwarding our Architects plans together with a
brief of what we were looking for, a wish list for appliances and an indication
of budget, Matthew James Furniture set about designing our kitchen.
We wanted a
traditional style kitchen with curves to soften the edges and the quality and
finish was very important to us. We chose hand painted kitchen cabinets for the
main part of the kitchen using Farrow & Ball's Wimbourne White, but wanted
to make more of a statement with the Island so opted for Ash with a walnut
stain. Kashmir White granite made a stunning addition particularly with the
large New York profile edge on the island. All the cabinet interiors were Ash,
which were finished with a clear lacquer together with the dovetailed drawers,
which were made from solid Ash.
As the property was in the early stages
of being built, it gave Matthew James the opportunity to suggest that the
utility door be moved over slightly to allow enough room for the fridge, coffee
machine, microwave and freezer to sit neatly along one wall. The design was
tweeked a number of times over a few weeks until it was just perfect!
The kitchen
is my favourite bit of the whole house. The craftsmenship is outstanding and
the attention to detail; second to none. |
